Meaning & History

Means "our dear mother" or "our sacred mother" in Nahuatl, from to- "our" combined with nantli "mother" and the diminutive or reverential suffix tzin. This was a title of the Aztec mother goddess, who is popularly linked with the Virgin of Guadalupe.
