Meaning & History

Derived from Greek ἀγλαός (aglaos) meaning "splendid, shining, bright" (see Aglaos) and φωνή (phone) meaning "voice" as well as "sound, tone".

This was the name of an ancient Greek painter, who is thought to have lived around the late 6th or early 5th century BC.
