Derived from Greek ξένος (xenos) meaning "foreign, strange" as well as "foreigner, guest" combined with the Greek noun θέμις (themis) meaning "law of nature, divinely ordained justice, that which is laid down" (see THEMIS).This name was borne by an Olympic victor from 144 BC.
