Italian form of ዓድዋ also spelled Adwa or Aduwa. This is an Ethiopian town whose name means "village of Awa (people)" in Tigrinya.Adua catched the attention of the Italians because of The Battle of Adwa, a battle of the First Italo-Ethiopian War. Led by Emperor Menelik II, Ethiopian forces defeated an invading Italian force on 1 March 1896. Adua became a given name during the Fascism (1925-45) when Adua was a symbol of a dreamed revenge that became real in 1935-36.
