Meaning & History
Derived from Greek εὔπλοια (euploia) meaning "a fair voyage", which is derived from Greek ευ (eu) meaning "good, well" and Greek πλόος (ploos) meaning "sailing, voyage" (see EUPLOOS). However, it should be noted that it can also mean "good ships", since πλοῖᾰ (ploia) is the plural form of Greek πλοῖον (ploion) meaning "floating vessel, ship, boat" (see EUPLOION).This was one of the epithets of the Greek goddess APHRODITE.
