Meaning & History

From Thai ตาก (tak) referring to the historical kingdom of Tak (located in the present-day province of Tak in northern Thailand) combined with the name สิน (Sin). This was the name of Taksin the Great (1734-1782), the only king of the Thonburi Kingdom. He received this name after serving as the vice-governor of Tak.
