Meaning & History
Possibly a diminutive of Old Norse names beginning with the element agi "awe, fear" or egg "edge of a sword" (such as Agnarr or Agmundr). In the Ynglingatal, Agni Skjálfarbondi is a legendary Swedish king, one of the Ynglingar (Swedish royal dynasty in the early Middle Ages). His wife Skjalf hanged him with his own necklace.
