Means "God of rock" or possibly "my God is rock", from Hebrew אֵל (ʾel) meaning "God", combined with the suffix י (i) "my", and צוּר (tsur) "rock, cliff". The name Zuriel is derived from the same roots in reverse order. According to the Book of Numbers in the Old Testament, Elizur was a son of Shedeur and a prince of the Tribe of Reuben.
