Meaning & History

Means "brother of support" or "my brother supports", derived from the Hebrew noun אָח (ʾaḥ) meaning "brother" (combined with the letter י (i) "my", thus "my brother" or "brother of") and the verb סמך (samak) "to support, to uphold". In the Old Testament Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan was the father of Aholiab.
