From the Sindarin name Lothlórien, an Elven city in Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Named for a land called Lórien in Aman, from which Galadriel had been exiled, Lothlórien means Lórien of the Blossom. Often shortened to Lórien, which means "Land of Gold," although it often carries with it the meaning "dream." (Treebeard referred to it as "The Dreamflower.") In Tolkien's Silmarillion, Lórien, also known as IRMO, is one of the two Valar brothers known as Feanturi (the root of which is 'fëa').
