Meaning & History

Medieval Basque calque of Blanca and Blanche, derived from Basque zuri meaning "white". During the Middle Ages, this name was popular in all regions of the Basque Country. Although the form Zuriñe (created by Sabino Arana) is more common nowadays, Zuria has also been revived in modern times.
