Meaning & History
Means "(one who) brings together".In Egyptian mythology he was originally the explanation of the cause of binding of Ka and Ba, two aspects of the soul, after death, hence the meaning of his name. Because of this, he was said to have guarded the entrance to Duat, the underworld. He was typically depicted as a snake with two head (and sometimes just one). As a snake god, he was also thought to have power over snake bites and, by extension, other poisonous bites. He was seen as the son of RENENUTET and GEB.
