The Celtic goddess of the river Wharfe (North Yorkshire, England) known from a single inscription found in Ilkley, England and therefore interpreted as a local deity.There have been attempts to link her name to Proto-Celtic *wera- "rain" and either *beja- "to strike" or bei-e/o "to live".
