Meaning & History
Derived from Hebrew #chebhron# meaning "league, association, confederacy". In the Old Testament this is the name of a paternal uncle of Moses, Miriam and Aaron. He is said to be the ancestor of the Hebronite people.
Hebron is also the Hebrew name of one of the most ancient and important cities in southern Palestine, located some 20 miles south of Jerusalem, in an open valley.
