Meaning & History

Means "she who belongs to Ahura" in Avestan, from the name AHURA, referring to either the creator god Ahura Mazda or the various other ahuras of the Avesta, combined with the feminine suffix -ani meaning "companion, wife, mate". In ancient Persian mythology this referred to a class of female water divinity.
