Meaning & History
From the name of the Malvern Hills in England, which is probably of Brythonic origin, meaning "bare hill" (from the equivalent to Welsh moelfryn "bald hill"). In Britain it was occasionally used as a personal name during the 20th century; 'earliest example noted is in 1912, but none recorded after 1951.'There were also some babies in the USA named Malvern or even Malvern Hill for the battle at Malvern Hill (Virginia) in the American Civil War.
