Meaning & History
The first element of this name has two possible explanations for its etymology. One explanation is that it is derived from Polish woleć "to prefer". The other explanation is that it is derived from Polish wola "will, volition". Both possibilities ultimately derive from Proto-Slavic volja "will, volition". In the case of the second explanation, this name is then the Polish form of VOLIMIR. The second element of this name is derived from Slavic mir "peace".
