Meaning & History
Means "demigoddess" in Greek. In Greek myth this name belonged to a goddess who was formerly the mortal woman MOLPADIA. It was also borne by the sister of Tenes, locked in a chest with her brother and cast out to sea and together landing on an island where Tenes reigned as king. Later he was killed in battle by Achilles, who then attempted to rape Hemithea; "she ran off to escape him and was swallowed up in a chasm of the earth."
