Meaning & History
This was the name of a 3rd-century Christian martyr from Ancyra, the capital of the Roman province of Galatia. She was the eldest of seven holy virgins who were drowned in a lake during the persecutions of the Roman emperor Diocletian. The following night she appeared to her nephew, Saint Theodotus, in a dream.
