I went to high school with a Zinnia and the only thing I remember is that she was popular and genuinely nice. I think this name, like the girl I knew, should be more popular since it is a pretty name! I love how Zin could fit a more masculine girl and Nia could fit a more feminine girl too!
I recently made this my middle name, because I think it's so beautiful. Zinnias also happen to be my favorite flower, and I got inspiration to make it my middle name because of the book Matilda. Matilda's Mother-- mostly known as just Mrs. Wormwood --has the first name Zinnia, and it's always stuck with me. Whenever someone sees it's my middle name, they tell me how lovely and/or unusual it is!
Generally I love flower-themed names. However Zinnia has a screeching, fussy, austere and cold sound in my opinion.I think it's because of the two 'i' and the double 'n' that make it so severe to my ears.I much prefer Zayna with a similar sound. It's much warmer and gentle than it.
My daughter is called Zinnia Lilly :) she was born on March 19th 2008. I was panicking on what to name her so I asked my husband and he said “Zinnia” is a nice name, I thought about it and decided that would be her name, then I asked my parents what her middle name could be, they said Lilith but I thought it was too evil. So I named her Zinnia Lilly. She just happened magically somehow, so we needed a magical name for her, and this was it. Sometimes we call her Zin. She is very beautiful and strong.
Zinnia is the most beautiful name. I have someone special and precious in my life who is named Zinnia. This name alone is enough to brighten up my day. She is a blessing from Almighty in my life and she is as beautiful as her name. She is so thoughtful, so kind, so strong, so brave, so affectionate. I sometimes feel like she is my imagination. And her thoughts, her personality has made me fall in love with her and her name as well. She is not only my best friend but also my strength. I keep going for my beautiful Zinnia.

I like Z names, because of the nickname Z, and they are typically uncommon and cool. This is a perfect example.
I love how only one person commented saying that it's the name of a really interesting Pokémon character. Zinnia is a really uncommon name and I'm surprised that more people haven't said it.

The name Zinnia was given to 53 baby girls born in the US in 2012.
This is very fun, spunky-sounding name after the colorful flower. I just don't like that the etymology is after a botanist. I would like to know what the name "Zinn" means.
I always liked flower names. This name sounds and looks pretty, and the flower is pretty too! :)

This name is beautiful, it's always a shame when a name is used for someone who is evil or mean in the bible or movies, such as 'Matilda', why can't people use unusual names (or make up names) so people don't feel like evil people.
I find this name to be really beautiful. I think more obscure flower names such as this (and Amaryllis, Azalea, Dahlia, Linnaea, etc.) are terrific alternatives to overused flower names like Daisy, Lily, or Rose (my middle name).

Really ugly name. Being named after a flower would annoy me.

I really adore this name. For some reason tasteful flower names for little girls has been something I have always loved. I would most definitely name my daughter Zinnia. As a nickname I would call her Zinni or Zee. If I had a perfect picture in my mind for what a person named Zinnia would be like would be beautiful, courageous and funny.
