It makes me think of the dad on Leave It to Beaver, Ward Cleaver. It's very square, in mid-20th century parlance. Buttoned-up and serious, and probably conservative. I don't like it at all. (It's fine as a surname, though.)

It's ugly and old-fashioned, and I think of one of the nasty characters from the godawful book The Catcher in the Rye.

Mental hospitals and hospitals in general come to mind. The name doesn't sound very pleasant either.
