I've always pronounced it like the word "very" but with A instead of Y at the end, of course! I've never really liked the VEE-ra pronunciation, that seems like it would look more like Vira. In Russian, Вера is pronounced VYEH-ra, similar to English.
In Bulgarian are two variants - Vera and Viara, means (faith, fides in latin), in some dialects pronunciation is with mutation - veren (masculine gender) and viarna (feminine gender), but in others it is same sound veren - verna.
