I like Tricia, it seems like a more unique and beautiful form of Trisha. Trisha sounds like a petulant teenager to me, sorry! (Maybe because of Trisha Paytas...?) Tricia has a more mature sound and... and, yes, maybe a little more sophisticated than Trisha. But I am sorry that people confuse it so much with Trisha or that they take for granted that it is Patricia's nickname. Honestly, if I were to call my daughter Tricia, I wouldn't want her to be called something else, no matter if it's by mistake or not.
I was born in 1969 when Nixon was president and one of his daughter's was referred to as Tricia, which is why my full name is Tricia (not Patricia) because my parents liked the sound of her name. I have always liked my name, but have alternated using Trish or Tricia through the years. Family call me Trish, and when others call me Trish, I find it endearing because it's like they feel close to me. Yes, I have a lot of people spell it Trisha incorrectly, but as I get older, I really don't care to correct them. The most common question I get is, "Is your real name Patricia?" And I can't stand it if someone makes an assumption that they can call me Pat or Patricia... you might as well call me Michelle. I only tell people about the Nixon connection with my name as a fun fact considering Nixon's infamy. Overall, I really like my name and love it when I see other Tricias in the world. :)
I'm a bearer of this terrible name, though mine is spelled "Trisha". I've always hated this name, I go by Trish and I still hate that name but it sounds a world better than Trisha to me. Trisha makes me think about toilet bowl cleaner.
I'm a Tricia and have never thought of it as unique, cute, sweet, trashy or fun, until I realized how uncommon it is. When I was little I use to tell people that my real name was Patricia, only because I wanted a short name. I then realized I could go with Trish. I'm named after my Mom's niece who is a few years younger than my Mom. My Mom says that she wanted to name me Patricia Ann, just like my cousin, but Patty said not to give me that horrible name! Lol! Ann is also after my Aunt Ann, one of my Mom's older sisters. Now that I'm older I love my name! It is unique in its own way. I'm considered a kind, honest and sweet woman. Few people call me Trish. From time to time my husband will, but not often. I have an ex-boyfriend (like 20+ years ago), now one of my closest friends, who calls me Trish. Tricia, the spelling, is hard to find if you're looking for the spelling for knick knacks. I was the only Tricia in my class growing up until high school. A Trisha Lynn moved to town. Now that spelling reminds me of a trouble maker... because always seemed to get into trouble! Lol!
The name Tricia is not trashy or ghetto. I like the way it's pronounced. "TRISH-ə" certainly is the opposite of ugly. It's a beautiful and elegant short form of Patricia that is short and sweet. I don't mind the spelling Tricia as a nickname for Patricia but as a given name (forename) "Trisha" works best. I don't think the spelling "Tricia" is good as a given name (forename) because it looks complicated, messy & awkward.

A long time ago I could not stand this name for some reason, it just sounded too cutesy like Hilary or Chelsea (I still don't like those two names). But Trishia has grown on me, it sounds fun, full of life, cute and almost sweet!

I love this name, and the nickname Trish. It's quite unusual and is perfect for a little girl.
