I’ve seen many comments say that the name ‘Tonya’ is trashy but my friend’s called Tonya and she’s a nice person. But still is it ur business? What’s wrong being called Tonya? How would u feel about a bunch of people online saying ur name is Tonya-Not just online also in reality? U can say ur opinion but do u have a reason? Plus what’s so good about being called modern names like stupid old Lexi or Ashley- u just want to be popular but I’m warning u that popularity isn’t the whole point of life. Now if ur reading this I just want to tell u, 1. If u see someone abusing a name, it’s not right! Stand up for them or stand up for ur self leave it alone if u don’t like it, it’s not like ur gonna fall into a puddle of poison acid and break all ur bones then die and god will not have MERCY on u! CYBER SAFETY! It’s not just online!

Tonya is such a pretty name. Very sweet and relaxed, I love it. I also really like Tanya, as well.
I never liked this name. It sounds like a bully or someone with no class. I always associate it with the disgraced skater Tonya Harding. Tanya is a much nicer name.

My name is Tonya, (I pronounce it TON-YA {like on with a t, then a with a y}) and I have grown to love it. When I was little I hated it being so uncommon and different, especially as I live in Ireland and only know of one other Tonya (who I was named after) but now I love having a unique-ish name.

My name is Tonya. When I was a kid I was the only one I knew with my name, though I have met a few more over the years. I like my name and I'm sorry the one person didn't, but to each their own. The best story about the name Tonya: I work as a nurse with a mother and her daughter, Tonya. She called me "Nurse Tonya" and her "my Tonya". Well, her Tonya had a four wheeler accident and she was injured and needed to be cared for, for many years before she passed away. When I first worked with her again, she said "Hi Tonya" then broke down crying "There, I said your name." It made me cry also. And I am proud to be Tonya.
I think Tonya is classy and princessy sounding since it is short for Antonia. It also means priceless. Depending who you ask they might say it even means praiseworthy.

I know I have commented on this name in the past. But my name is Tonya! I read someone put that it is trashy. Well maybe you are stating that because you knew someone named Tonya who was trashy. But I can assure you, that the name Tonya is not trashy at all. I love my name. I also love where my name comes from. I know no other trashy Tonyas. I am not trashy and the name is not trashy. It is a very good, pleasing to the ear and legit name.
To the person a few posts up, the name Tonya is far from trash. There are so many kr8tive trendy trashy names out there. Tonya is far from any of those. Tonya is a beautiful name. It may seem 80ish, but it is more classy than that. It is a short form of the beautiful name Antonia. The name Tonya is not trash. People are welcome to have different name tastes. It is even fine to dislike the name in general. But to think the name Tonya is trashy, that just shows me you know nothing about the true background of names. The rest of us with good taste will just go on loving the name. :)

This is my name so I have to comment and say I like it. :) Actually I really do like my name.
I think the name Tonya is absolutely a beautiful name. It's just a fun girly name with class. I like the spelling and pronunciation of Tonya better than Tanya.
