I’ve always had such a fondness for this name! The short, sorta spunky sound I feel somehow emphasizes the personality and eccentricity of anyone who has it. Great name for boys, but also loved every time I’ve seen it on a girl. Great standalone, but could be short for Tobias or Tobiah as well. 10/10 name :D.
My name is Toby Tyler (first and middle) and I’m 55yrs old and have been getting compliments on it since I can remember! There’s a book out there “13 days in a Circus” (I’m pretty sure that’s it) LOL, but I know it as “Toby Tyler Joins the Circus”!
I have a very intelligent and stoic dog named Toby. It’s a perfect name for someone who is loyal down to the very mitochondria in their cells. When I hear the name Toby, I think of a courageous, noble person who is willing to assist anyone with anything. Whether a WholeFoods employee needs help restocking a shelf, or an exiled monarch is trying to collect enough dragon eggs to form a majestic, fire-breathing fleet, Toby is always ready to help. It’s a wonderful name, truly.
My mixed chihuahua is named Toby because of a carpet cleaning commercial and it had a dog named Toby who was yelled at by a lady screaming TOOOOBBBYY! By the way my mom gave my mixed chihuahua’s name Toby ….
I have a distant girl-cousin named Toby, and it seems to fit her well enough, but I am considering naming my son Toby. I like that my favorite childhood dog (male) was named Toby, and TobyMac (Christian rapper) is a good namesake.

The Toby I know is my cousin, she is a she. I love it on either. Full name for a girl, Tobin, Tobias, or Tobiah is best for a boy.
I'm actually very compelled to name one of my sons Toby or Tobias and have his middle name be Fox, after the legendary indie game developer himself, Toby Fox.
Toby is a very good name, but definitely not a girl name.

Toby is gorgeous. I view it as a masculine name, not unisex. It can be short for names such as Tobias, or used independently. Whilst any name can be used for any gender, technically, Toby is not unisex, in the way that Robin and Ashley are. People call girls James, Michael, Kevin, Stuart, Andrew, Steven, etc. I honestly can't say why, when they are male names, and there are enough beautiful female names out there. Calling a boy Annabel or Jessica would not make those names unisex. It would make the parents cruel.
This name is okay I guess. It kinda sounds like a dog name. "Here Toby, come here boy". Think about it.

My brother's name is Toby, not Tobias. It is cute. I do like it, but it is a dogs name.

Toby (to me) is kind of a common name, I know a couple of boys named Toby. But I haven't met anyone with their name spelled Tobie, like mine. I personally hate the name since I'm a girl, I know it's unisex but it's a better boys name and I hate the name even more when someone says their cat or dogs name is Toby.
Tobi is my aunt's name. She's a knock out and always has been. To me Tobie has too many letters, Toby is for a boy and nickname while Tobi is a fun loving, artistic and mature woman.
I think Toby is super cute as a boy's name (horrible on a girl) - maybe a little TOO cute. Sometimes I do think this sounds a bit like a dog's name, since it is the name of Mr Punch's dog in the puppet show.
In my honest opinion, this is a dog's name. I have a friend whose dog's name is Tobias (nickname Toby). Your child will likely get picked on for having this name.
Personally I would like the name better as a pets name. Maybe like a papillion or a house cat named this.

I absolutely love this name. I've had this huge crush/obsession with Toby Keith for a long time, and I think of someone like him every time I think of this name: a fun-loving, down-to-earth, very funny, patriotic, and just in general a super nice guy. I know a lot of people who get a bad impression of this name, or name their child this after some alcolic or something in their family with this name, and don't like it. With people out there like Toby Keith bearing the name, I think it stands for something good and wholesome.

I always kind of liked this name for a boy. I don't care much for it on a girl.
No offence to those who have this as a name, but this gives me the impression of a chubby child. It is a nice, strong sounding name but I am just used to a boy in my class who is chubby and often called Toby by some mean boys. I suppose that the name just rubbed off me that way, otherwise I would like it more.
It's also a lovely, unusual and attractive name for a girl.

I love this name, it's cute and simple and is the name of a boy I know. I think it suits him perfectly! It's not too common either which is good.

A BEATUIFUL sweet CUTE gorgeous name! No? I've only ever heard it referred to as a boy's name. But it seems lovely for a girl also. I want to name my first boy child this. It's adorable.
