As I understand it, this is actually a verb in Swedish and so perhaps the definition should be given as "to twinkle, to sparkle". The fact that it was a verb contributed to this name getting a lot of negative reaction in Sweden itself when it was popular. Many Swedes thought this was an inappropriate to use as a name, and it was sort of the Swedish "Nevaeh" in terms of people either loving it or thinking it was one of the most ridiculous names they ever heard of.
