I like Thomas. It’s classic, it’s Biblical, nothing crazy. On the negative side, I do tend to lisp it when I read it in my head (thaw-mus), but I’ve never had an issue saying it aloud. Tom is a good standalone name or nickname for any age, Tommy is cute, and I like reading the variants and diminutives from other languages like Toma and Tomo. They sort of freshen it up for those of us who aren’t used to seeing them. If it’s your name, wear it proudly!
My name is Thomas, and in my opinion, I don't like it. It's just a boring, dull, Christian name, and generally doesn't fit me. Combined with my middle and last name, my full name is just a nothing burger. I'm also not a fan of Tom and Tommy. I'm seriously considering changing my name.

My maternal grandfather was named Thomas, I have an uncle named Thomas and I also received the name Thomas. I was the youngest boy of 34 cousins. So if I was talking to family I was always Tommy so they knew to whom they were referring too. I go by Tom mostly but grew up around Philadelphia area so I get Tommy Boy a lot. Thomas, along with my middle name Edward almost always was used if I was in trouble. If I'm in South Philly I'm almost always Tommy Gunn or T. Thomas the tank engine wasn't a problem but I also was kinda built like a tank so maybe kids didn't want to complement me. It's a solid name that you can have fun with, the nicknames are endless. Plus probably everyone woman in your life that likes you will call you Tommy or Thomas clears up the confusion.
I'm expecting a son soon and love this name soo much, and so does my partner. But my last name through marriage is Sangster, and I feel like it'd be weird if we named our son after Thomas Brodie Sangster, even though I'm a fan of his movies. But Thomas is a great name considering how great the name is itself, plus all the cute nicknames you could give Thomas! Note: Funny enough, we ended up naming our baby boy Samuel, who I just discovered, is also a character played by Thomas Brodie Sangster in Love Actually 😭.
This is my middle name (I go by Tommy). Thomas is a strong name, dignified and timeless. I don’t personally choose to go by it, but it’s a classic name that has stood the test of time.
My name is Thomas and I like it. This name should be more popular over trendy names. Most people call me Tommy some people call me Tom. I personally like the nickname Tommy for Tommy wiseau.
One of my all time favorite names that has, in my opinion, a timeless appeal. Thomas is one of those names that I never tire of hearing about and wouldn’t mind meeting someone who goes by this name. Finally, I would like to contribute a passing thought by stating that Thomas has a charming air to it that is endearingly approachable without being aloof as some other classic names can be.

Beautiful, grounded, classic name. It's not as common as you'd think, I've only met a handful of them.
This is the worst name right now. I've met 8 people called Thomas in my life, I only liked one of them. The rest were annoying, ugly, fat, smelly, rude, anti religious, nerdy, weak and had a bad hair cut.The thing is, before 1990 there was loads of good people with this name. Loads of saints, Inventors, politicians, medical geniuses and Great battle tacticians. But all of a sudden after 1989, everyone named Thomas has just been the worst people. It's the worst name right now.
What a gorgeous classic! Another “boring” name I love, like David and Peter. Such a steady classic name which ages so well, with the nicknames Tom and Tommy as options. Thomas the Tank Engine isn’t a bad association, either - it would be super cool for a little boy to have the same name as their favourite toy/character!
So just because you’ve never met any doesn’t mean they don’t exist, @Jace Hendrix? And you, Anon on 9/29/22- That is simply uncalled for. Honestly, this is one of the greatest names ever to exist. You can’t go wrong with a name like this, as you can picture it on a male of all ages. Along with James, William, Henry, David, Anthony, etc.
I think Thomas is an amazing name with wonderful history! Tom is cool as a nickname, but I prefer Thomas in full. Also, the tank-engine association only makes it better for me. ;)
Why would you name your child this? This is a very white name I could never see a black person with this name, and there's that creepy pedophile Thomas Jefferson.
Old and childish and always associated with Thomas the Train, don’t name your boy like this.

I love this name, along with Matthew, James, Peter, William; this is one of my fav English masculine names and I like the nickname Tom, Thomas or Tom, either is great and I like Andrew as a middle name for Thomas.
Little bit better than boring looking and sounding Tom, but still, Thomas is not that great either. Sounds childish, just quite a boring name, I don't see much charm with this name.
This name is my name. I don't like Tom at all. Tom is like for wimps who can't handle being named after the train. Thomas is a name for saints, inventors, and lots of paleontologists but most people called me Tommy from my past. When I meet people now I go by Thomas.
A Strong, classic and timeless name which can suit any male, from a baby into a teenager, a middle aged man and a grandad. I much prefer it as Thomas and I'm not a fan of the nicknames Tom and Tommy, they undermine the strength of the name Thomas in my opinion.

I think that this is the best name for a boy. Just look at all the Thomases who act for Marvel studios and the 3D artist on YouTube #Tom Potter.
My youngest is named Thomas-Alistair Charles Felix. We call him Tom. One time my eldest daughter, Ethelind Olga, told Tom that he had the same name as Voldemort. Poor Tom burst into tears, Ethel felt terrible, but it was amusing how much Tom hates having the same name as Tom Riddle. Thomas is one of my favourite names for little boys. It’s a classic and will fit him all his life. When I first was coming up with names for a boy, I suggested Thomas and everyone pretty much liked it. Score!
Thomas is the greatest name is my opinion. Thomas the tank engine doesn't affect my thoughts of the name. Tom and Tommy are just awful nicknames. Tommy is baby sounding, Tom is for boring goddamn actors and Thomas is for wonderful inventors (Edison) and presidents (Jefferson & Wilson) Woodrow Wilson's first name was actually Thomas. I find it stupid that people think of the train because on the show Thomas isn't the only damn character. Nobody makes remarks about the names James, Henry, Percy, Gordon (Gordon is an awful name and Edward), Toby. Thomas O'Malley the alley cat is my favorite character named Thomas. What about Odd Thomas.

My name is Thomas and I love it. It's not common where I live, I don't know any other Thomases. It's a strong, solid name that can fit anyone of any age group and it's a great name to grow up with.

My given name is Thomas (my uncle's middle name) and was mostly used in full name mode when I was in trouble. I grew up in the south so it was Tommy until I moved away for college then it became Tom, although family and friends still use Tommy. I like them all.

Thomas (Tom) is a popular, manly name which never seems to go out of style. It is also a family name. My husband's name is Thomas as is his father, grandfather, great-grandfather etc., all of Scottish ancestry which can be traced back for at least a century. I have gone to family reunions where someone asked for TOM & several people answered! I doubt this name will disappear anytime soon.
Thomas is my middle name, and the one I prefer to go by. I always loved it for the intellectual vibe it emits, and a wide variety of historical figures are named "Thomas".
When I was in high school, guys with the name Tom/Thomas always seemed more like men than boys. I love the name Tom, I just wish it didn’t have so many negative associations with it: Tom Marvolo Riddle. Doubting Thomas. Uncle Tom. Etc.

Thomas is handsome and actually has cute nicknames, my second favorite boy's name and I just feel it's very versatile and carries this elegance that most names don't have.
Thomas is a relatively nice name, I actually know one but I forced Tom on him since it sounds a lot more like a young, but grown up man for me and Tommy is also a good nickname, as it reminds me of a playful and athletic adult, and for me, once you meet a person with it that is the opposite of what you imagine on someone with that name, that name sticks with you and reforms the way you see a name. Just like how I can see Helen or Clara on a young baby, I can see Tommy on a grown up boy.
I love Thomas unshortened. I also like the spelling Tomas. I would use it as a middle name because of its popularity. I also like the names history.

It's my name, nickname Tom is OK. The only people in the entire world allowed to call me 'Tommy' are my late Mother and my cousins...

My father is Thomas, my grandfather was Thomas, and my great-grandfather was Thomas. If I were a boy I would have been Thomas as well. I'm trying to like it to use it for a son of mine eventually, but I just don't find the name appealing. I don't like the nicknames Tom or Tommy either. I'm trying to like it!

I love the name Thomas and also the nicknames Tom and Tommy, especially when I address my close friends. The best actors who bear this name include Tom Skerritt, Tom Selleck, Tom Cruise, Thomas Gibson and Tom Hiddleston, no wonder it's still a great name.

I like Thomas. It's my name and I'm proud to have it. It has a timeless vibe to it.
I tend to think of Thomas the Tank Engine more than anything else, and since that show scared me as a child, it's a negative association in my mind. However, other than this it's not a bad name, and when I picture a person named Thomas I picture a young inventor who comes up with the craziest ideas for inventions. I generally like the name, when not thinking of that creepy kids show, but I also dislike the common nicknames Tom and Tommy due to their dullness.
For once I would like to disagree with a few folks - sorry. But I cannot get why anyone would prefer being called Tom over your actual name Thomas. I am from Germany and live in the US for 15 years now, but to this day it bothers me that most assume they can call me Tom. Be it in a verbal conversation, email and so on. Maybe it is just how I was brought up, or that we always have a formal and non-formal version personal pronoun. It just always feels like someone is butchering your name. If my parents wanted me to be called Tom than they would have done that. It is to the point (my wife is from Russia) where we had to think about my son's name in a way that it can't be butchered in either of the 3 languages or shortened to something stupid. OK I vented - thanks for listening LOL.
Thomas is one of my very favorite names. Thomas is a fantastic name that fit any age and any man. Tommy is a also a nice nickname for when he's young and Tom is great for when he's older.
Thomas is pretty much the best classic boys names there is. It's really not that popular either. In my state Thomas barely makes the top 100. I like Tom because it sounds so friendly, and Tomkin is a super cute baby nickname.
I am pregnant with my #3 baby and if it is a boy his name will be Thomas with the nicknames Tom and Tommy it is such a classic name that can grow with him and can't imagine one person saying anything against this name it is cute, fun and just a wonderful old fashion name me and my husband both had it as our #1 name for a boy so it is a very likable name that definitely makes me smile:-)
Thomas is a fantastic manly name. I like the nickname Tom as well; it sounds so friendly. There are many great and some not so great namesakes, but that can be said about all of the classic names. A downside with this name: it seems that there are many ways to make fun of Thomas: peeping Tom, Tommy Salami, Tommy wants his mommy, tom foolery, etc. But Jack is super popular and there are even more ways to make fun of Jack. Thomas may be in the top 100 names but in the US it is quickly falling off of the charts, I have never met a Thomas under 25 years old. It would be a nice name for a gemini =). I love this name!

You can't go wrong with a name like Thomas! I know one person who goes by Tom, another one whose real name is actually just Tom, (no idea why) and one who goes by tommy. But I still don't consider it common. And of course, it suits all ages, one of the most important qualities of a name, at least to me :)
I'm not sure why, but I've just found this name to be really cute and wonderful lately. If I ever get married and have a multitude of sons, Thomas will probably be the second or third ^.^
Thomas is my father's name, and going along with the meaning, he is actually a twin! My dad's nicknames include: Tom and Tommy.I think the whole "no nice philosopher's have been named Tom so no nice Tom's exist" logic is ridiculous.
You know, for everyone saying that Thomas is such a common name. I don't think I've met a single Thomas/Tom/Tommy/etc. under 30! But I do like that it's fairly well-established and easy to remember. And I like how Thomas sounds. Although I think Thomas as a full name is a bit too formal for everyday use. I like Tommy for a boy/child (since that's what kids will probably call him, anyway), and Tom for a man.

My name is Thomas, and I do think it's quite a common name because I know a lot of Thomases myself. Funnily enough I'm a twin which corresponds nicely with my name's meaning. Thomas is also quite a good name for getting a range of nicknames for example: Tom, Tim, Tommy, Timmo, Tommo, Tommyboy have all been used by others when speaking to me. Although my favourite has got to be Tom, as I feel Thomas is way too formal for normal usage and tom is a really easy name to remember.
Please ignore my previous comment. When I was little I loved Thomas the Tank Engine so this name is pretty good. It's not that common, I guess because I don't know too many Thomases.
I think right now, it's under used, and it's a classic. I hadn't considered it before, but I'm considering it now. It's a nice name, and I like the nickname Tommy.
Had I been a boy, I would have most probably been given this name. I guess I wouldn't have minded it too much, apart from the fact that where I live, the name is just as common as my feminine name.
Thomas is my brother's name. I don't like that name. But I call him Tommy sometimes. I know that will get old though because it's kind of a baby name. I absolutely HATE the name Tom. Ech! No thank you.
This name is simply too common on all sorts of obnoxious people. Think Tom Tancredo, Tom DeLay, and whatever loud-mouthed, bigoted Republicans called Tom there are out there. The name is too common in general anyway! I can't tell the bigots apart. I can barely remember what which one actually *does*. Now that I think about it, I don't know any likeable Thomases, as this has been the name of philosophers and at least one church father. Church fathers and philosophers may not always have agreed with one another on certain issues like faith and religion, but they historically had a tendency to avoid soiling themselves by having relationships with those in their opinion inferior, lowly, dimwitted creatures also known as women. They were just a bunch of privileged jerks in an ivory tower, despising less fortunate people and anyone who wasn't asexual like them. There were some exceptional philosophers, of course, but was any of them named Thomas?
Thomas is my brother's name and I think it's a nice name. I wouldn't name my own child that if I have one, but I don't dislike it. I like the nickname Tom.
Tom is a good standalone name or nickname for any age, Tommy is cute, and I like reading the variants and diminutives from other languages like Toma and Tomo. They sort of freshen it up for those of us who aren’t used to seeing them. If it’s your name, wear it proudly!
