When I was looking for baby girl names for my daughter I came upon Tessa meaning “Beloved by God” in Polish and so I named her Tessa. I have searched countless times since then for that meaning of the name and all I get is “reaper” or “harvester” or “late summer” from a Greek word. I would love to find that reference again that gave Tessa the meaning of “Beloved by God”. Are there any Polish people here than can confirm? Or has anyone else found that reference?
It is also the diminutive of the archaic Italian name Contessa that means 'countess'.
Can mean either 'harvester' or 'countess'.
Tessa is a beautiful name. It is also Italian and has the meaning of countess.
I was on a website once that said Tessa was Italian and meant countess. I think Tessa is a beautiful name. Very graceful and pleasing sounding.
Greek, means fourth child.
