My name is Tesni. I was told as a child that the meaning in Welsh is "magical sunshine". It is, as I understand it, a poetic/Bardic word and therefore not used in everyday conversational Welsh (though unfortunately I am not a Welsh speaker so I have to take this on trust). In this context it can also mean "Indian summer", as in an unexpected spell of warm, settled weather late in the year. This meaning had a personal resonance for my parents and this is why I was given the name. I have further been told that whilst it is uncommon even in Wales, it is slightly more prevalent in West Wales.
