My name is Tali. I like my name, unique, pretty meaning. But I was teased a lot in school. Some called me "tail" on purpose, the bus driver called me "Tally-Ho" (cringe). Someone asked the meaning of my name, when I said Dew Drop, he sniggered and said, " doo-doo?" Almost all Americans without exception pronounce it Tally, but that is not right. Tall-ee is wrong too. I'm not short, buy I'm not so tall either. People calling me tall-ee, makes me feel like a giraffe, or toll-y, like a toll booth. But Tally was most common, and the most dispicable. This pronunciation always bothered me. Imagine my relief when I moved to Europe and everyone pronounces it right. My husband in europe thought I was Italian when he heard my name for the first time.I hate it when people think my name is short for "Natalie\". What a natty, spiderweb name.Despite the nasty moments in school, I still like my name for what it is. I like its simplicity. I like its neutrality. I like its rarity. People in Europe see the name on my door and think its my husband's last name. They call him Mr. Tali. We never correct them, it's our personal joke. I like people not knowing if I'm a girl or boy on paper, that way they judge me less.
