HANDS UP! Who HATES THAT NAME SKYLER! Just because boys are unfortunately named Skyler doesn't mean that Skyler is a boy's name! Skyler is & will always be a bird's common name! Who wants to have children named after birds? Look at Eurasian Skylark as an example of bird's common name! Bird's common names ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN ESPECIALLY GIRLS! Please choose proper feminine names for your daughters NOT that bird's common name! I HATE THAT WHEN PEOPLE USE BIRD'S COMMON NAMES ON BOYS & GIRLS! It doesn't sound feminine or masculine! That is a birdish name!

It’s so childish on a human, masculine or feminine, I agree with the commenter below.
I think this name might become one of those names that gets taken over by females.

I like this name a lot, simple, unique but recognizable. I could see it working on girls although because most girls are spelled with Skylar, maybe use that spelling so it won't confuse people. I think that Skyler James or Skyler Drake would work great for a boy. This name reminds me of a passionate and ambitious person always reaching for the sky. :)
I had a best friend called Skyler. She passed away four years ago in a car accident. Since then this is my favorite name. I usually called her Sky. She was more like a twin than a bff to me.

I had a crush named Skyler, and she said no when I asked her out. That's alright though, we're still friends, and that's really good too. I still sort of have a crush on her. But she doesn't like me like that, and that's alright. Hey, at least we're still friends. As a name, I don't care for it. My dad said when I told him about my crush "Skyler? Is that really her real name? Is it like her nickname or something? That's dumb." Omg, how rude is that? She was a distance away, but I hope she didn't hear that. I mean, it's better than some names. At least she isn't Olga, Calliope, Gertrude, Blerta, Garla, or something along those lines. I like the "Sky" sound, but the "ler" draws me away. I think all "Sky names" are more feminine, and I can't see a boy with a "Sky name".

I kinda like this name. Most modern names are rubbish, but this is an exception. I once knew a cool boy named Skyler.

Skyler or Sky is a good name- you should have it! A great nick-name is either Sky Sky or just Sky. It's the best you can have.
Skyler’s a really beautiful name for both boys and girls. Noble and strong for a boy, delicate and pretty for a girl. I personally love Skyler for a boy, and Skylar for a girl. This name is so cute and elegant so I like it. It reminds me of the sky.

I don't like the name myself, too immature, I think. But then again, this is coming from someone who is going to call her child, "Curzon".

Not a bad name but, it sounds like a teenager's name to me. It seems to fit no other age group.
I believe that the name Skyler sounds like it comes from Skylark put together from Sky and lark and that is why I hate the name Skyler. And who wants to name their children Skyler after bright blue skies and grey birds? You can research Eurasian Skylark on Wikipedia and see why the name Skyler comes from Eurasian Skylark!

My son has this name. Hadn't heard it before 2005, now hear it almost everyday.
Well my name is Skylar, and everyone assumes it's spelt Skyler. And I get people calling me Scarlet when I introduce myself. I never really did like my name, but being a girl and being called Skylar is not so bad as long as you don't mind getting called a dyke.

This is a stellar name... and all of you miserable people hating on it must have been picked on throughout life about your own names. Sad.
Awful. I can't imagine an intelligent person with this name. It's really a shame because a child doesn't get to choose their own name, they are saddled with it by a parent. I'm a firm believer that people treat a person by their impressions of a name and that's why people with the same name are somewhat alike. I know two Skyler's, both of them live in the sticks, are covered in tattoos and define their worth through what truck they drive.
This name sounds strictly masculine for me, and is a cheap, flimsy name. I would highly recommend not to call a girl this.

I can see it on any gender, but my opinion on it is the same regardless of the gender of the person who has it: it is a very youthful, immature, tacky sounding name that I do not care for much. I see a Skyler as being a baby, a kid, a teen.... but not an adult, and especially not an adult woman. That being said, it is kind of ugly-cute if you stare at it long enough.
Females can be scholars too. There are other forms of this name, too. Skye- feminine Skyla- feminine Skylee/Skyleigh/Skylie/Skyly/Skyli- feminine Skya- feminine Skylia- feminine Skylar is more feminine than Skyler.
Call me crazy, but I don't see Skyler as being a feminine name at all. It comes from a word meaning "scholar" which is usually associated with males. The name itself kinda sounds cheesy and weird and I find it to be a really trendy and terrible name, so not my cup of tea personally.

I like this as a masculine name. I tend to like unisex names on boys, so saying that isn't saying that it's terrible on girls. It works fine. If you are looking for a perfectly unisex name, you should definitely consider Skyler.
I absolutely love my name and would not change it for the world. When people ask me what my name is I usually get a response saying that it's a beautiful name and it makes me even more confident in my name. I am a girl and actually find this name perfect because it's coed. This makes the name Skyler become the perfect balance of beautiful and strong. As for the spelling, I'm a little biased, not just because that is how I spell my name, but also because the name Tyler for example, is spelled almost the exact same way but I have never heard of a Tylar. I just personally don't think it fits.
Everyone who is talking bad about the name Skyler, KNOCK IT OFF.! I am a girl and my name is Skyler spelled with an ER at the end everyone loves it and other people should respect that so just stop.
My name is Skyler Diamond. At first I didn't like my name at all. People kept telling me that it was a boy name, or was a weird uncommon name, so, just went by Sky. Eventually, I started to love my name because it is so unique. There is not much normal to my name at all. My first name is unique and so is the last name Diamond. I used to be ashamed of my name, but now I love my name! There are a lot of people that still call me Sky, but I now prefer Skyler.
I am the fourth of five kids (two boys and three girls). By the time I came along, my parents had gotten a little more creative with the names they gave us. I grew up in Virginia and since my dad was a sculptor, I was named after a neighboring town, Schuyler, which had a quarry where my dad got his soapstone. After my parents decided to name me Schuyler though, my mom had to keep looking up the name in the phone book in order to spell it correctly, so they decided to go with the phonetic spelling instead of the way the town's name was spelled. (Which is how I ended up with the name Skyler.) When I was a newborn, my mom ran into a very pregnant Sissy Spacek in the grocery store. She said, "What a beautiful baby!" and asked my mom what my name was. My mom told her, "Skyler." She had her baby soon afterwards and named her Schuyler and so my mom has always maintained that Sissy Spacek named her daughter after me.
I love this name. :) I used to think it was one of those "modern-day names" too, but it actually isn't. I looked it up on the web and the name Skyler was used even in the 1800's.
Much prefer this spelling for a boy but I must admit, the name is a bit flimsy. Makes me think of a feminine, or weak, wuss type of male. Or just simply, a sensitive and softer type of male.

I like the meaning and sound of this name. I can see it working on guys because of it ending in the popular suffix "-er" and I can see it working on girls because of the "Sky" part. This spelling is the best because at least the "-er" ending faintly resembles the original version, Schuyl(ER). For some reason "Skylar" is commonly used for girls. I hate this spelling as it makes me want to say Skie-LAAR instead of SKIE-lər. I think Skyler is cool and refreshing. C;
This is by far my absolute least favorite name of all time. Everyone I know who names their child a variation of this name is white trash or redneck. When I hear this name, it makes my skin crawl. I'm not saying everyone who names their child this name is trashy. I just hate this name.

I love this name! It is so beautiful and bright and sounds great for a teenager. Skyler is easy to pronounce and is very pretty with Grace as the middle name. If I had twin girls, I would name them Skyler Grace & Allegra Josephine. Skyler means "sky" and Allegra means "happy" which reminds me of heaven. I think that it's a lovely name!
This is my name and everyone loves it and wishes it was their name. It's weird but I love my name. Hey, at least it's not "Skylah". How lame.

First off, I absolutely hate this name for a girl. Names ending in -ER sound more like guy names to me, for example, Tyler. This name is almost too modern that it sounds silly. Why not omit the K and have the name Syler?I knew a boy named Cyler once - he went by Cy. He was cool.
I hated this name and thought it was trashy from the first time I saw it. I could never take a grown adult of either sex named Skyler/Skylar seriously. Being from the Capital Region of New York State, it also makes me think of Philip Schuyler Elementary School, named after one of our early senators.
Yuck. Skyler sounds extremely babyish and stupid. I hate it so much. Do you seriously think that it would look good on a resume? On girls it's even worse. What about this name sounds feminine?
Skyler is one of those limp-wristed modern names that makes my innards churn in horror. A boy with that name is a boy condemned to a grade-school life of beatings and stolen lunch money.
