I think it's very cute, and certainly stands out, but I would only use it for a pet in the U.S. in the 21st century. It's way too much for a human girl. Perhaps I have a kitten named Shprintzel in my future.
To me this name always seemed extremely dowdy. I would imagine a girl of this name to be more at home in the world of Fiddler on the Roof then this one. My friends and I always used this name as the name of a clueless devout Yiddish girl.
This name is totally adorable. I've never met anyone with this name. It would perfectly fit a funny, happy-go-lucky character in a play or story. Maybe because the way it sounds reminds me of the word "sprinkles". Adorable!
