It's a very common masculine name, the 'a' at the end either isn't pronounced or is pronounced as a schwa. It's a single syllable name for all intents and purposes. There is a (rare) feminine variant of the name, but it would be written as either "Shivaa" or "Shivah", or very uncommonly as "Shiva", but it would be pronounced differently (two syllables).

I am a Tamilian, but I think that this holds true not only in Tamil-speaking states but throughout India: Shiva is NOT pronounced SHEE-va, it is pronounced with a short I sound - SHI-va SHEE-va is an anglicized pronunciation.
