Strangely enough, I actually like it! I think it's lovely, especially because of Hamilton! "(work, work) Angelica, (work, work) Eliza, and Peggy, the Schuyler sisters...Angelica, (Peggy) Eliza..."
I love Skylar the name, but I don't find this variant particularizing appealing.
I like the name, but I hate this particular spelling. It's just weird. I prefer Skylar. If you want to give your kid this name, please choose a different spelling.
I like the pronunciation SKIE-ler for a boy, but Skyler and Skylar are feminine dominated. Nice to know Schuyler exists!
The only Schuyler I remember meeting was a super classy girl at school. It’s a fancy name in my mind.
This is quite an odd way to spell Skylar...
My name is Schuyler and I was born in 1992. I am a female and yes, a lot of people have trouble with pronouncing my name; however, I do not mind. I love my name and the mispronunciations serve as a conversation starter. I think it is a great uni-sex name! No, it was not hard to learn how to spell my own name growing up. It does not have any bad nick names, the worst you hear is "shooler." 9/10 times my nickname is Skyy, Sky, or Skye. The only time I result to my nickname is when I am too sleepy to explain the spelling and have a full blown conversation with the Starbucks barista in the morning. (haha).
My name is Schuyler I was born May of 1995 and I love my name oh and I'm a female. My mother has always picked awesome names- these are my siblings' names: Fleur, Tristan, Avalon, Madison, and then me Schuyler (Skye for short). Yes I love the name! If I were a boy I was supposed to be Ryder. Anyways, yah it was annoying how people couldn't pronounce my name or people would literally fight with me saying the spelling is wrong and I'm like dude... it's my name. But the amount of compliments I've gotten is way more than the negatives.
It reminds me of the song "The Schuyler Sisters" from Hamilton. A nice association, but I had a lot of trouble pronouncing it before I heard the song. I prefer the spelling Skyler.
I personally love this spelling of Skyler/Skylar. It makes it look more sophisticated.
It took me quite a while to realize that this is a form of Skyler. When said aloud, I admit that this has an interesting ring to it, but that does not eliminate the fact that it is incredibly juvenile, unprofessional, and (in this case, for the spelling) hideous. This version is only listed as male, but to be honest, I have only ever seen Schuyler used on girls (though I have seen plenty of boy Skylers).
Another part of the difficulty circling this name, which has been mentioned by other posters, is the intense confusion regarding pronunciation... before I knew that this, essentially, is Skyler, I would mouth the name to myself, attempting to figure it out -- SHIE-ler, SHOO-yler, SKOO-ler, and finally it dawned on me: SKIE-ler.
I wouldn't name your child this, because nobody will pronounce it right. Most people will pronounce it "Shuyler" or "Shuller".
I didn't know how it was pronounced for the longest time. Before naming your child this, I'd think about the pronunciation issues that will occur.
