Very pretty. ‘Carly’ could be used as a nickname.
I wouldn’t want to be called Scar, personally.
“Scar” sounds like a pretty cool nickname to me. Don’t know why everyone is so overtly concerned about it.
Reminds me of a woman’s monthly cycle.
I’m concerned about the nickname Scar as well.
An alternative for the Scar nickname could be Letty/ie.
Very pretty name with a terrible nickname called "Scar".
Scar is a terrible nickname.
Ok. However, the only nickname option is “Scar”!
Scarlet is a pretty name, however, Scar is a horrible nickname.
I want to like this, however, “scar” is an absolutely awful nn!
It's an okay name but I prefer Scarlett better!
I’m really not sure whether I prefer Scarlet or Scarlett but my heart leans closer to Scarlet. It’s an actual color and word, meanwhile Scarlett just looks like somebody accidentally pressed another ‘t’ in the keyboard. I find Scarlet to be a very beautiful and elegant name. Not boring at all. The color gives it a nice extravagant and seductive feel. Scarlet is a nice name. I give it a 8/10.
This sounds like a bloody infected bad wound.
I really like this name! I don't like it with the extra "t" though.
Prefer it with the extra "t".
I immediately think of Gone With the Wind. That being said, I really do not like this name!
My name is Scarlet, and I've never really liked my name. I don't know if it's just what I think of myself, but I have always thought it was a bit boring. I don't hate it, but I think it's a little plain.
I agree, this name annoys me for some reason. The nickname "Scar" is absolutely awful!
I really do not like this name, sorry. The only nickname I can think of is "Scar". I personally would hate to be stuck with the name!
Strongly dislike this name.
One of the coolest names ever! By the way, don't listen to the commenter that keeps butting into names below me.
Not a fan.
I prefer Scarlett.
Prefer this to the other spelling. I am currently reading the Lunar Chronicles and the character Scarlet Benoit is one of my favorites. She is fiery, brave, and kind, although since she had red hair it’s pretty obvious why the name was chosen.
This name never used to be one I liked until recently, since it works more for fictional characters than a real person due to it being so common now, but I still like the sound of it.
My spouse Fabian wanted to name our little girl Scarlet. I explained why I didn’t like the name. It is not refined and it was rough to us. He understood that it simply didn’t work. Last minute.. oh! I thought Charlotte was pretty and refined and close to Scarlet. We knew we both had to agree on the name. Charlotte was also a classy, 1900s classic name. We loved it. Fits perfect.Scarlet(t) and Charlotte are both good names. However, Charlotte suited us better personally.
Beautiful name. Strong, feminine, and makes me think of a gentle, graceful, beautiful girl.
I like the color Scarlet, and this spelling is prettier. Scarlett is like naming your daughter, say Violett.
I like this spelling better than Scarlett because it is unique and Scarlett looks like a misspelled color. I don't hate that spelling, I just prefer this one.
Scarlet is my name and I love it. Everyone comments on it and how beautiful and unique it is. I love my name. I always tell my mom, if she wouldn't have named me Scarlet, I would name a kid Scarlet. I really like how it has the color spelling. I feel special with my name! My friends call me Scarlet usually, but some call me Scarly/Scarli and Scarleteee!
If you name your kid this, she's bound to be called Scarlet the harlot at some point. This is a name that should be left as a color and not used as a name.
I have a love-hate relationship with this name. I LOVE it because it is not very common and it is very fiery and intense; but at the same time I dislike it for the fact that I have heard that a "Scarlet woman" refers to a prostitute, and it also rhymes with harlot, which is another term for a prostitute.
"Scarlet Willow" was at the top of my girl's name list for a while, but it trickled its way down for the reasons stated above. I would not want anyone to make fun of my future daughter and tease her about the name.
Are there any Scarlets out there who have had this problem?
This name is very unique, and Carly would be a good nickname.
Vivacious. I think I like it a bit more than Violet which still feels a bit fuddy duddy despite Garner-Affleck using it on their child.
This spelling has a longer period of use as a girl's name. It's beautiful and full of zing. I would rather see this over muddy Sienna.
Whenever I see this name, I'm instantly reminded of the term "scarlet woman" for obvious reasons.
I really like "Scarlet" more than "Scarlett". I don't know why. I guess its spelling is more unusual. I would name my daughter like this.
