I think Samson is a beautiful name. It is graced with strength, power, and eloquence. I love the potential nicknames, including “Sam”, “Sammy”, and as one commenter mentioned “Sonny”. Overall, I think Samson is a great name.
This name doesn't really 'do it' for me personally, but it has lovely connotations thanks to Regina Spector's beautiful song of the same name, and the allusions that Leonard Cohen makes in 'Hallelujah'. I am not religious so I have no personal relationship with the biblical story, but it's an evocative tragedy and fascinating folklore! A great name!
This is literally my dog's name. I can not imagine it being a name for someone my age though. There are a lot of Samuels in my class however. If you want a name for a dog, this is a good name. Maybe if your name is Sam and you have a son his name could be Samson, idk man.
To me Samson sounds very manly, brisk and brazen. Even to the point of being annoying at times.

I would never name my son Samson. It would always remind me of the Belgian children television series Samson and Gert. Samson is the name of a five-size puppet dog.
