Super rare name. Yeah. It's the Japanese word for Cherry Blossom that blooms around End of March and First week of April. Does sound perfect for Spring time born Babies in March and April Aries born girls.
This is a beautiful name. I love this name, and I have a character named Sakura in my book series. She has long hair and wears a beautiful pink dress with Sakura petals and cherry blossoms on it.
I love the meaning and the name it gives me Sakura Nanamine vibes. She's from toilet bound hanako-kun, it's on hulu it's a very good anime. LIKE SHE'S SO PRETTY although she's not a main but I love her hair style.
If I ever had a daughter (which I doubt I will have children), I would want to name her Sakura, especially since I love the meaning of this very beautiful, common name.
Well, I don't know what to say. This name is popular in Japan. That's one reason why I don't like the name Sakura. The second reason is that some people would think that a child named Sakura would have been named that because her parents are complete "otakus," so I'm not sure if I wanted to give this name to my daughter, regardless of whether she's a mixed-race (in my case Japanese and Polish/English) child or not. I'm one of the few people on BtN who likes Japan yet is not a fan of anime, would you believe it.I do like the meaning though, so I might pair up the kanji for "cherry blossom" (桜) with a different kanji. Examples that I like include Tao (多桜) which means "many cherry blossom" and Neo (音桜) which means "sound of the cherry blossom."
Sakura is a really pretty name and the meaning "cherry blossom" is lovely. ^^ Obviously I think of Sakura Haruno in Naruto. She isn't my fave character or anything but that's who I think of. Anywho, I rate the name Sakura 10/10. Other cute Japanese girl names I recommend are Kari, Nami, Ami, Yumi and Mika.

My niece's name. She was born in, and lives in Japan. The r makes an l r sound. Mostly she goes by Saku. It means cherry blossom. The translator on facebook changes the kanji for Sakura to Cherry. Sakura is a very pretty name.
It's a really nice name, but it's kinda stale. Practically every manga and anime seems to have a character named Sakura. Granted, it is used quite a bit in reality, but not to the extent in manga and anime. Plus it's a favorite of otakus, and it's a stock name for Mary Sues in fanfics. And I've heard of non-Japanese people considering it for daughters - that wouldn't work well.
This is a ridiculously common name among female anime characters. Unfortunately, I associate it primarily with Sakura Haruno of Naruto fame, whom I detest, so it's not a name I like a lot. The meaning is much prettier than the name itself anyways.
Beautiful name, definitely, but I think it should stay in Japan. If a non-Japanese person used it, I'd think that the parents had been watching a little too much anime.
Ugh. Unless you're Japanese, no. I would really hate to be the American, white kid with an unfitting Japanese name just because my parents had me at the age of 17 and liked anime.
A very pretty, delicate name. I would definitely consider it for at least a second name, if not a first, even though I'm not Japanese. There is no stress on any of the syllables. If you're still in doubt, ask a native Japanese speaker to pronounce the name. If you must stress a syllable, stress the first; it's less noticeable.
I think the meaning of this name and the way it looks written down is beautiful. But saying it out loud (either pronunciation) sounds like a mess and not as pretty. I know someone's daughter who has this name and I hate saying it.

It is very unique, and it's from the characters of "Cardcaptor Sakura" and "Naruto", and these are my favorite anime shows. This name has a beautiful meaning ("saku" for blossom and "ra" for good).
Beautiful name! I don't like many Japanese names, but I have been looking and looking for an excuse to name a character in one of my stories this. Someday, I'm going to adopt a girl from Japan and name her Sakura.

Sakura is a really nice name. Especially its meaning. So cute!.It is the name of my favourite Lush product = Sakura bath ballistic (www.lush.co.uk). It's amazingly scented. My first child is going to be called Sakura (if it's a girl obviously).
