I hate it when a certain someone ruins a perfectly good name. I mean Joseph Stalin was a bad guy but Joseph is still used today. The media seems to dislike foreign names associated with bad people.
Saddam is a wonderful name! Stop hating just because of Saddam Hussein. It is better to have him instead of not having a leader at all to keep the country together, and why is Barack Obama awful because his middle name is Hussein? He isn’t. I think thinking the right way like me makes the name way more unique.
Saddam Hussein was not portrayed wrongly in "corrupt" American media. He was an evil man who committed genocide against Kurds and killed his own people, and if you respect that, then there is something wrong with you. Also, this name reminds me of "Sad Adam" for some reason...

This name will be associated with Saddam Hussein for a long time. Who is named Saddam anymore? Anyone who is using this name is making a statement against human rights.
It's really too bad that Saddam Hussein had this name. I really wouldn't name my child this (even if there was no Saddam Hussein to assosiate this name with, it's just not the sort of thing I'd name a kid), but maybe a character in a story. Actually, I really might have if there were no associations with Saddam Hussein to deal with. However, there are, and it looks like this name is going to go down the paths of names like Adolf and names with similar assosiations.
Now, I think everyone should just cut the crap and not resort to the tired old argument about people naming their children Josef and variants despite Stalin, as there are quite a few known people in history who have had the name Josef or Joseph, but Saddam doesn't really remind people of any other famous Saddams than Saddam Hussein. Now, that could be different in other parts of the world, but I can't say I've heard of any. The name is hardly repulsive per se, but the associations sure are. If someone named their son this, I'd take it as a morbid statement.
Yes, yes. Name your kid Saddam. Then, you can name the next kid you have Adolf. Then after that, Osama.

It's a good Muslim name that just so happened to be used by a horrible person (who by the way didn't do anything to America, but did lots of horrible things to his own people). This just goes to show how wartime propaganda has manipulated you to hate Muslims and their names. For almost any name there is a horrible person associated with it.
Exactly. Just because a famous bearer happened to be a man who was portrayed negatively in corrupt American media (notice how I say CORRUPT) doesn't mean that it's a bad name worthy of criticism. For all we know, it might have been a very ordinary, respected Arabic name. The fact that Saddam Hussein bears the name is simply coincidental. For instance, people still name their children Charles, Theodore, and Edward despite the fact that people with negative reputations (Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, Ed Gein) bear them as well. Finding the name Saddam 'evil' just because you don't like the guy is as ridiculous as cutting your child's hair off all the time because you wanted him to be brunette instead of blond.

I don't like this name, but not just because of its currently-very-famous bearer. I just don't like the way it sounds.
Such a delightful name! It makes you feel so happy, safe, warm, and fuzzy! Think that I'll use it for any sons that I might have. That was sarcasm. Its meaning "One who confronts" seems all too appropriate, considering Saddam Hussein.
If I was an American I would never name my child this because you are naming after somone who does not respect your country and tried to destroy it and killed people.

Uhm, no, Saddam wasn't involved in the 9/11 attack. It was done by Saudi extremists. He did very bad things to his own people, though - backed up by George H.W. Bush!
