A famous bearer is Sabina Spielrein (1884-1942), a patient of both Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud (who may have been romantically involved with Jung) and who later became a lauded psychoanalyst herself. It is possible that Sabina inspired Freud's "death drive" theory as well as Jung's views on "transformation" (in relation to sexual drive).
The wife of Voice of the Martyrs founder Richard Wurmbrand. Sabina lost her family in the Nazi death camps and was imprisoned herself for three years by the Communists. In spite of that, she continued to operate her husband's underground church in his absence (Richard was imprisoned for a total of 14 years). She died in 2000.
Sabina is the name of the promiscuous main character in Anais Nin's novel "A Spy In The House Of Love". Despite her somewhat loose tendencies, I like the character, and I like her name.
