This name seems to be the name of villains in Spanish soap operas 'novelas', so it has a negative connotation in Latin America and is not very popular. This is my father's name and he hated it growing up, and still does. My grandmother, who was very traditional, gave him this name because it is his nameday for March 1, the day of his birth. Just his luck.
