It's a nice name and all, but I think it suits a dog more than an actual human just because this is my dog's name. My dog was actually named by my mom after the character Ellen Ripley from Alien. To me if you want something more unique from Riley then Ripley is the way to go, but I think this is a more suitable last name or pet name than a legal first name.
My name's Ripley. Tbh, I love it. I’m the only person named that, (that I’ve met) and I think it’s sick af. Most of the time, people think I’m named after Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. Kinda annoying, but it’s chill lol.
I feel like it could be used on females and males and maybe even pets! My name is Ripley and some people think of Ellen Ripley in Aliens so I have to tell them it's from her. But overall, I think it's for anyone and that it's a pretty name for anyone!

Horrible. It's a surname, and also the name of a town here in Britain.
I’m proud to say that my first name is Ripley. Whenever I introduce myself I always get a positive response. They always say “Oh, that’s a cool name” or "Ripley, like in Alien?" Tiny little problem, and by now it doesn’t bother me…whenever I do business online or social media, I’m always addressed as Sir, Mister or Brother. Oh well….
I find this name annoying for some reason. Maybe it reminds me of Kipling or some other annoying name. It sounds a bit pretentious somehow. I absolutely loathe the name on females. It sounds too boyish for any self-respecting grown woman. And pretty it also isn't.
