There was a girl named Renate in my class in grade school. Her mom was from Germany, but we lived in the U.S. She pronounced it ra-NAWT-ee. She was the only Renate I've ever met and I'm pretty old now. I think it's very pretty.

One of my best friends names! She goes by Rena, Ren, or Nata for nicknames. I think it's unusual and quite pretty!
