I love this name so much it's a lot better and more interesting than Rachel I've always associated this name with Barbie nemesis Raquel but Raquel is pretty and iconic so I don't consider that a bad association at all.I think a name that goes very well with Raquel is Raquel Elise.
Beautiful name - not very common in the U.S. and sounds feminine.

I originally thought it was masculine, but because of the end. I don't anymore, and love Raquel, it's much better than boring Rachel, which reminds me too much of Rachel Green.

My favorite variant of Rachel. Even though I'm not Spanish / Latina, I'd still use Raquel. It's just cool.
My name is Raquel and I don't like it too much, but for other people like Rachel Weisz it's perfect.

I love my name and always have. I grew up at a time when educational institutions had a habit of Anglo-sizing "foreign" names. My parents instilled in me the idea that my name was mine, it was special, and to never let anyone change it to fit them. I was not Rachel. I was Raquel. I will always be grateful for that. I learned later in life that the pronunciation of "Raquel" is much closer to the Hebrew pronunciation for "Rachel" than the modern pronunciation (ray-chel). That being said, I love all variations of this name. If I meet a Rachel, Rachelle or Rochelle, I feel an immediate bond. I think all variations of this name are very feminine and give an impression of gentle strength and intelligence. I was called "Rocky" in Jr. High. I think it was done ironically because I'm not that prize fighter. Oh, I'm a fighter, but not in that loud, obvious way. Read the Biblical story of Rachel and her sister. It took great strength to love and forgive.
I don't mind this name, I'm very neutral towards it but the spelling turns me away from it. Sound of it: I like Spelling wise: no. Then again, I can't think of a single way to spell this name that would look nice.
Am I really one of the few people to dislike this name? Raquel sounds curdled and rough to me. The spelling is even worse - the sheer appearance is unattractive and looks terribly made up. Just because it is the name of Raquel Welch does not mean that the name itself is seductive or "bombshell"-esque. The only upside I see to it is the nickname Rocky.
I love the name Raquel and greatly considered it for my daughter but went with another name in the end because so many family members I polled disliked the name; My husband could not stop associating the name with Raquel Welch (bombshell), others thought it wasn't a classy name, others thought inevitable nickname of Rocky to be terrible. I regret not using the name sometimes as I think it is a strong, feminine, and biblical name. The name Raquel is an intimidating name, it has presence, weight, strength and some people will not like it for these reasons. It is a sexy name too, which scares some parents. If you name your daughter Raquel you cannot fear that she will be sexy, assertive, or strong willed. A name does influence perception, and many imagine a girl named Raquel to be a bombshell.
I really like my name (Raquel). I used to hate it, but now it's my favorite. My friends even call me Rocky (not rock-y but ro-cky). And I'm thinking about having a nickname like Roy or something.
Raquel is my middle name and I HATE it. It doesn't help that my first name is Gabrielle, either: Gabrielle Raquel. UHG! It rhymes way to much. I wish my name was "Gabrielle Hyacinth". That would be so cool. Also, the name Raquel makes me think of some sleazy lady.
I love the name Raquel. It's my middle name (Bárbara Raquel), and I think it's wonderful not only as a middle name, but also as a first name. I would name my daughter Raquel.
I love my name! I used to hate it but as I grew up I fell in love with it. It's actually really common in Portugal, normally as a second name (Maria Raquel, Júlia Raquel, Filipa Raquel, and my very own Ana Raquel).
but Raquel is pretty and iconic so I don't consider that a bad association at all.
I think a name that goes very well with Raquel is Raquel Elise.
