I can't believe no one has mentioned Rabbie Burns yet! Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796), the Heaven-taught Ploughman, is the National Poet of Scotland. His poems and songs very famous all across the world. They include "Auld Lang Syne", "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose" and "Tam o' Shanter". He is the best known of all the poets who have written in the Scots dialect.
