Pronounced somewhat like chyo, said in the first tone, which is a high flat tone. The q in Mandarin does sound similar to ch but the actual sound doesn't exist in English.

I just know people will have trouble pronouncing this name! Being Chinese, I shall try to explain how the 'q' sound works. 'Q' is pronounced as 'ch' making Qiu sound like: chu (chew).
