Pleasance Smith (née Reeve; 1773 – 1877) was an English letter writer, literary editor, and centenarian. Smith lived to the age of 103, becoming well known in later life on account of her advanced years. Her mother's name was also Pleasance. Supposedly, Alice Pleasance Liddell (the girl who inspired 'Alice in Wonderland') was her great-niece.
The founder of the American Girl series: dolls, books, large store in Chicago, etc. was called Pleasant T. Rowland. I'm not sure I like this as a name, though.
