My name is Perri. I am female named after the male flying squirrel that Walt Disney used in a documentary in the “60s”. I like my name but have found it rarely used for girls. I could not find its meaning with this spelling of Perri.
It amazes me how many "first named Perry's" get missed by the wayside! Perry Mason (Earl Standley Gardner's fictional lawyer creation of the 50's, Perry White, Clark Kent's a.k.a. Superman's famous comic book boss at the Daily Planet! Also, a young woman named Perry on Marcus Welby MD, (Robert Young) with Dr. Steve Kiley in one episode, plus that cartoon Perry the duck-billed platypus. As well as surnames, Steve Perry (Journey band), Katy, Matthew, & Admiral Perry who went to the South Pole--(sounds like it's used more as a last name). And of course, the person I was named after--Perry Como! I think it's a great unabashed one, and I do prefer pears (Perry--old Anglo-Saxton for "pear tree") over apples anytime!
I can't think of anything else than "Perry the Platypus" when I hear this name. I grew up with Phineas and Ferb. I also think of Perry Johanson (or something like that), one of the many names Mr. D gave Percy in The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. My sister calls her cat Perry (the poor animal's name is Percy Apollo Nico Romeo Luke de Las Botas).

Perry Smith, along with Dick Hickock, murdered four members of the Clutter family of Holcomb, Kansas, in the late 1950s. This became the subject of Truman Capote's novel In Cold Blood. Perry Farrell (born Perry Bernstein) was the frontman of the band Jane's Addiction and the founder of the Lollapalooza music festival. His stage name is a play on "peripheral."
Christopher Perry Halliwell of Charmed. Goes by Christopher Perry until his identity is revealed.

A famous bearer is singer Katy Perry, who by the way is GREAT. I personally think this name would sound better on a girl not boy. It does not seem strong enough to belong to a man.
