I think Penny is a cute nickname for Penelope. As an inside joke, I have a friend who is named Ethan. His friends sometimes call him Epen, so I sometimes call him Penny because he has a copper hair color.
I have a friend named Penny and she is the coolest person ever lmfao. I thought the name at first would make me think of a little girl like it would be "too cutesy" but it really isn't.
I personally love the name Penny; it sounds very sweet for a girl.My association probably comes from the dog my grandmother used to have, who was named after where she was found as a stray, "Penn" Station. She was friendly and sweet, too.Overall, I think this is an equally great name for a person or a pet.

Too soft, sounds dry, quite boring also, I don't like it much. Even similar looking Peggy sounds more mature. There are so many better names than this.
The name Penny is the most delicate, in my opinion, of most names. I say this because I watched a TV show with my younger sister called "Littlest Pet Shop", ever heard of it? Anyhoo, She was a panda named Penny Lynn, cutest name ever! If I ever have children, I will name her Penny Lynn (Whatever the last name will be).
My brother’s friend is called Penny and at first I thought it was a bit bizarre since I thought of the smallest valued coin but since I discovered it was Penelope’s short form and I read through all your comments here it grew on me and now I think it’s kinda cute!
I was named Penny by my mother and it was lucky for me. She hid the pregnancy until the day I was born. My grandmother received a call from the hospital. Your daughter had a baby! Which daughter?! My mother died when I was 6 and I was told that she named me Penny because that is all she had in her pocket. I was lucky she had me and I was all she had. Like most things of little value except as a keepsake, she kept me until the day she died. It wasn’t enough to buy anything but it was cherished all the same.
Much like the coin the name Penny adds little value to the person wearing it. It doesn't even make a good pet name in my opinion.

My name is Penny and I’ve grown to love it. I’m 40. I like names that are easy to pronounce and not easily misspelled. My email is luckypenny78. In French class my name was Franc. ;) there were some bad pickup lines: A Penny for your thoughts and Do you come cheaply. But most pickup lines are bad, right? But the best was when a 40-some member a cappella group serenaded me with Pennies From Heaven. A name is a name. You can love it or not. You can embrace yours or get caught up in distaste. But what you should never do is make ugly comments on someone else’s name. It’s attacking the person and we should all strive to be kind.
I never thought much about a person's name meaning much other than the family titles. We have a guest in our house and her name is Penny. Hopefully not all Penny people are like her.
My name is Penny ~ endured years of jokes, comments and innuendos, trust me, I've heard them all. But there is no way I would change my name. Love its uniqueness and its simplicity. Went to a school with 2, 500 students, end of 1st year the only other Penny left, leaving just me = win. Upside:- Stick your name on something and everyone knows who it belongs to. You never hear "Sorry, wrong Penny." Almost Downside:- Never finding anything with your name on it but that isn't such a problem now that personalization has become big business.
I MUCH prefer this over 'Penelope' which I just never cared for.Despite reminding me of change (Nickles, Dimes, Quarters and pennies) (: haha, I wish for the name to be used more. I mean it's a hell of a lot better than naming your kid 'Cash\Kash' which are RIDICULOUSLY and ABSURDLY within the top 1000.

This is my cats name. I can't say it's one of my favorite names, but it's okay as a nickname for Penelope.
I don't know why, but I love this name! If I got another dog I'd probably name her Penny, since my dog is named Copper :)

I just got a poodle puppy and we decided to name her Penny. It's such a cute name! It's not overly girly, but you can definitely tell it's a girl's name, and I've loved every character named Penny I've seen.

I think Penelope is a gorgeous name--but this inevitable nickname is the only thing keeping me from using it. Eventually, people are going to call my daughter (if I have one) Penny. And to me, that's like calling someone Nickel or Dime! It's a freakin' coin!
Penny is a very pretty name for a girl. I love it.

Maybe this would be a good name for a woman or girl who was poor.

I think this is a cute name. I have always liked it and you don't see this name used very often. On the tv show Desperate Housewives Lynette Scavo played by Felicity Huffman, her on-screen daughter's name is Penny.

Well I'm called Penny and up until around 16 I hated this name but now that I'm older I really like it. It's nice to be an individual and a great name for anyone.
