The name "Penny" also derives from the Greek epithet "Panagiota/Panayiota" (Greek: Παναγιώτα (fem.), pron. Pana-yo-ta) which was given to the mother of Jesus, Marie. "Panagiota" literally means "All-Holy".It's actually my name. Only my teachers call me Panagiota, I usually go by Penny. When I was younger, I hated it a lot. I'm still trying to get used to it. As a teen, I'm going through my identity crisis. Thank you to everyone who left kind comments about the name! It really really helped me. When I hear the name "Penny" I think of a soft-spoken, lovely, kind, protective, loyal woman (still working on those traits). I picture Sophie Hatter from Howl's Moving Castle.
