The thing I have discovered from my prolific browsing on the site is that beauty is so rarely something tangible -- it's simply the experience, like seeing a shooting star or moonlight shining on water. Nyx seems like an entity who isn't exactly corporeal, walking in the shadows and hanging invisibly over our shoulders, subconsciously telling us whether we are doing the right thing. It's a wonderful name for a spirited creature and just as pretty for a human child, a name that can be grown into and never sound infantile or childish.
My name is Nyx and I chose to go by it when I came out as non-binary. A lot of my peers and teachers compliment it. Sometimes my friends and I make jokes about it whenever we see NYX Cosmetics, but I love my name and it gives me strength.
I don't like this at all. Also, I know a senior at my high school who is really rude to people just because they aren't gay or lesbian. If I'm straight, I'm straight. She's named Nyx. I also really hate the sound of it.

It's a cool name, then again I'm a sucker for names that have x's in them.
The spelling looks cool, but I'm not sure I like the pronunciation. Most people would assume it is spelled "Nicks". Fire Emblem has made this name grow on me though.
Nyx has an ethereal kind of sound that could suit a woman all the way through her life. (I do not pronounce it the correct Greek way, but that's not too much of an issue because I live nowhere near Greece. I pronounce it the way English speakers do- NIKS) I love any name that is associated with the night or the moon. Also reminds me of Nyx cosmetics.
This name is by far my favorite to use. I just love it. It's part of the night and it has real meaning to it not just the " oh, I just like this name. Let's just use it." type of thing most people do. Night is my favorite time and I happen to think that this is the goddess that hears our prayers. She's loving and just plain amazing. I love this name!

My name is Phoenix and this is what my friends call me.
Well, this is what I think of the name, it sounds kind of cool and since it's a Greek name it kind of reminds me of this book series called Percy Jackson and the Olympianas. Even though they use Roman names they talk about Gods in this book.
I used to love this name, but now the House of Night Series has kind of ruined it for me. Can't stand the writing in those books. But I think the meaning's really cool! And I guess I still love it!
Though most of you seem to think it would be an ugly name for a child, or that said child would be made fun of, I think you're wrong. Personally, I think it's a beautiful name that gives you a sense of mystery. As for being made fun of, everyone gets made fun of for their name at some point, or at least most do. Also, it has an interesting origin in Greek mythology. It's fascinating to have a name with a background to it.
I assume this is pronounced ''NIKS''. It sounds just like the slang word for 'nothing' in German, 'nix'. Also, the name would surely lead to nixing jokes. It sounds ugly to me.
I love the feeling of mystery in this name, that's why I'm using it in a story where 5 girls discover they have special powers. I wouldn't name a child this name, though, because of all the funny looks and reactions to the name the child might get.
